Researcher – Good Morning Britain

6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Good Morning Britain has an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join the output team making the nation’s most talked about breakfast show.

You’ll be at the heart of the team putting together three hours of daily live television that’s enjoyed by millions of viewers every week. You will write scripts and briefs, cut pictures and VTs, commission graphics and brief guests, all to tight deadlines.

You’ll need to be full of programme and production ideas, have a thirst for news and a thorough knowledge of social media, to deliver content that captures the audience’s attention.

The ideal candidate will have strong research and fact-checking skills and background as a researcher in a broadcast or news environment is helpful. An understanding of broadcast law and Ofcom regulations is desirable.

The role involves a range of shifts including nights, bank holidays and weekends but there is plenty of time off too.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Experience writing scripts and editing pictures
  • Excellent research and fact-checking skills
  • An understanding of commissioning graphics for television
  • A creative and flexible approach
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Experience using iNews and Avid (or similar news production and editing software)

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

  • Experience as a researcher in a broadcast or news environment
  • Brief writing and questions writing skills
  • Basic VT writing and editing experience
  • Briefing guests and correspondents/presenters
  • Understanding of broadcast law and Ofcom regulations
