THE POSITION

Senate Bill 411 merged the Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Board of Probation and Parole. This position is within the Department of Corrections.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Parole Communications Operator, you will provide support to parole supervision staff by receiving, interpreting, transmitting, and coordinating communications and activities in the twenty-four (24) hour operations monitoring center. You will respond to messages received through various electronic means and prioritize, as well as determine the appropriate response to incoming communications including urgent or emergency messages. You will also relay messages and other communications to parole supervision staff and evaluate alert data concerning potential violations by offenders subject to electronic monitoring. Additionally, you will operate and monitor two-way radios, maintain an accurate log of PB and DOC applications on personal computers, the Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network/National Crime Information Center (CLEAN/NCIC) and Justice Network (JNET) terminals, telephones, and facsimile machines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours will be discussed at the time of interview. This is a 24/7 operations unit, and shifts/days off vary.
  • This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,944 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING &amp ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of clerical experience or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
  • All employees must obtain CLEAN and JNET certification within three months of employment and maintain these certifications for the duration of employment in this job.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
