Overview
Join the Iowa Workforce Development team as an Internship Program Coordinator (AA2) in our Workforce Training and Education Division, located at 1000 E Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by serving as a program coordinator for the Training and Education Division focusing on program work and to support workforce program administration in Iowa.

Your Role as an Internship Program Coordinator
As an Internship Program Coordinator, youll play a crucial role in supporting program operations, technical assistance, and reporting for workforce program administration and adhere to policy and procedures.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Support for Program Operations:

  • You will focus on supporting:
  • Iowa Industrial New Jobs Training Program (NJTP)
  • Iowa Jobs Training ACT
  • Accelerated Career Education Program Act
  • Apprenticeship Training Act
  • Future Ready Iowa Apprenticeship Development Program
  • STEM Internship programs
  • Student Internship programs
  • Create applications, supporting materials, review processes, scoring tools, and other required documents to facilitate a successful implementation of workforce programs.
  • Utilize databases and data management systems to monitor draw down of awards.
  • Collaborate and maintain a positive working relationships with the Community Colleges and other program stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and work with IWD IT staff to enhance and modify workforce program data bases and reporting tools.
  • Work with multiple internal and external stakeholders to communicate feedback and solutions on collected data.
Technical Assistance:
  • Review applications and contract for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Administrative and statutory requirements.
  • Request additional information or clarification for IWD approval or denial of funding for programs.
  • Communicate with applicants and awardees regarding deadlines, program requirements, and technical assistance needs.
Reporting:
  • Collect data and create reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to annual workforce reporting.
  • Maintain program data across various databases and data management systems.
  • Produce reports as required.
Other duties as assigned.

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Hybrid telework and alternate work schedule opportunities for eligible classifications after 6-months of employment has been completed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support (e.g., screening visitors and callers opening/distributing mail, typing/proofing documents, letters, and reports organizing files scheduling meetings/appointments arranging travel processing travel claims ordering supplies/equipment) or technical support work (e.g., determining budget, personnel, and equipment needs compiling/evaluating statistical, historical, economic, business, financial or technical program data interpreting or securing compliance with laws, rules and regulations reviewing operating records/reports and evaluating their effectiveness).
  • A total of five years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one) where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as an Administrative Assistant 1.
