Job Summary Perform various landscape tasks such as spraying, fertilizing, mowing, pruning, planting, landscaping, general clean up. Operates, services and maintains a variety of equipment to perform these duties. Responds to snow removal needs as well as other weather related emergencies.

Essential Functions Identify need for and perform pesticide spraying and fertilizing district wide in compliance with state regulations. Maintain accurate spray records. Set up and calibrate machines for applications. Properly store and safely use pesticides and fertilizer.
Perform all phases of grounds keeping work. Build and maintain landscapes, grading/seeding, mulching, planting, pruning trees and shrubs. Work in collaboration with the horticulture dept. on campus projects. Operate a wide variety of equipment, including hand tools, power equipment and heavy equipment. Clean and maintain areas such as plazas, sidewalks, parking lots, and outdoor features and furniture. Move classroom and office furniture and materials within the college and related areas.

Perform snow removal, responding to snow removal situations on a 24 hour basis. Make preventative and emergency repairs to grounds equipment used for snow removal. Respond to college grounds related emergencies.

Maintain and repair grounds equipment. Keep records of equipment repairs.

Provide training and work direction for non-regular staff.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications High school graduate.
Two years of grounds maintenance, landscaping, turf care, or related experience (Postsecondary education in a related field may substitute for up to 1 year of the required experience. Fifteen semester credits are equivalent to 6 months of experience.)
Ability to obtain a Class B commercial driver’s license within 6 weeks of employment and possession of a satisfactory driving record.
Ability to obtain Public Pesticide Application license within 6 weeks of employment.
Ability to keep and maintain accurate spray records in accordance with regulations.
Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers, trucks, tractors, loaders.
Ability to operate snow removal equipment and be on call to respond to snow and ice events in a timely manner.
Ability to move 75 lbs. and safely and properly move a wide variety of equipment and supplies.
Ability to work independently as well as in team environments.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications Associates degree in horticulture, landscape, turf or related field.
Certified pesticide applicator license.
Experience with plant and disease identification.
Experience maintaining and repairing equipment.
