Position Summary The Financial Aid Office at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Financial Aid Counselor position.

Qualifications Minimum Required Education High School Diploma.
Minimum Required Experience One (1) year of experience in an office setting.
Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications None.
Qualifications See knowledge, skills, and abilities along with the job duties and responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Use of familiarity with computerized information system (Banner) or be familiar with the use of computers.
  • Must be able to apply analytical and problem solving techniques to investigate, evaluate and interpret financial data.
  • Must be able to work independently utilizing sound judgement and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and be people friendly.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Quality Customer Service
  • Provide community outreach workshops
  • Establish initial Eligibility
  • Provide financial aid counseling
  • Perform Title IV processing (professional judgement, appeals, awarding, tracking, loan
  • Perform Title IV Verification
  • Resolve Conflicting Information
  • Assist with debt management and default counseling
  • Process loan exception reports
  • Process CPS pushed ISIR reports
  • Process COD reject reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned
