The Optum Enterprise Epic Services team is building an innovative, comprehensive Epic services capability using the collective expertise of our clinical, consulting, delivery, technology and operations teams. Our Center of Excellence, located in Nashville, TN, is bringing together some of the greatest minds in the industry to further our mission of making the health system work better for everyone. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the application and compliance teams to design system-level security architectures, processes, and documentation necessary to assure appropriate access to and security of the sensitive information of the organization
  • Provision application security levels and user roles for both outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Coordinate Epic security template (EMP) and role (E2R) updates following the security change control process
  • Work with application and compliance teams to design system?level access
  • Create and maintains provider records (SER)
  • Understand the Epic software security structures, including user profiles (LPR), roles (E2R), and security classes (ECL)
  • Provision access to third party applications in accordance with system policies and procedures
  • Design and documents the general functional requirements and detailed technical specifications
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Provide technical consultation including configuration
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate systems needs to develop recommendations for customers
  • Develop, support and maintain all required system design and build documents and other system documentation
  • Provide support of application incidents reported through the help desk including 24/7 on call coverage as required
  • Adhere to organization standards for system configuration and change control
  • Develop solid relationships with end user communities, customers and business partners
  • Attend, participate in, and contribute to meetings throughout the facility
  • Troubleshoot and/or resolve application issues and escalate more complex issues as appropriate

Required Qualifications:

  • Epic certification in Security
  • 4+ years Epic Security application experience
  • Epic project experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional Certification, or proficiency, in either EpicCare Ambulatory or Cadence
  • Completed Epic CEE (Continued Epic Education) to maintain certifications, proficiencies, and badges
  • Healthcare domain knowledge such as patient flow, scheduling, registration, authorization, or eligibility or other support functions in a healthcare organization
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Ability to demonstrate and have a history of team management (informal or formal), cross-team communication and leadership skills

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
