Hiring Range: $105,000 – $125,000 (Commensurate with Experience)

Job Duties

The Director of Communications and Marketing is a professional position leading external and internal communications, marketing, community engagement and stakeholder relations.

This Director supervises a small team of professionals and is responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating strategic initiatives, aligned with the agency’s mission and vision, that advance the agency’s goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading all communication efforts, both internal and external
  • Ensuring consistent messaging across communication channels
  • Overseeing social media and news media programs
  • Creating and implementing marketing strategies and public information campaigns that influence consumer behavior and enhance brand identity
  • Managing projects and departmental budgets
  • Collaborating with other departments and cross-functional teams
  • Facilitating partnerships with other organizations to enhance the agency’s reach and reputation
  • Compiling and analyzing data, tracking performance metrics, and making necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes

The ideal candidate is a creative team leader with strong interpersonal skills and expertise in communications strategies, writing, editing, marketing, graphic design, video creation, digital and print collateral and social media management.

DMV, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. Minimum Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of media and public relations program management.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple programs in media and public relations and public information.
  • Progressively responsible professional experience in one or more communications fields.
  • Experience managing staff and/or teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and contracts.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to provide guidance and recommendations to agency leaders.
  • Experience in social media planning and execution.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in video production.
