Job Description : Construction Recordkeeper I/II ( 2400948 ) Position Information


Join our team in Athens, where we oversee roadway construction projects for Anderson and Henderson counties. The Athens Area Engineer Office is looking for a motivated candidate for the Construction Inspector I or II role. This position will be responsible for monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Salary Range

Construction Recordkeeper I: (A13) $32,439 – $49,388

Construction Recordkeeper II: (A15) $35,976 – $55,045

Position Description


Maintains construction project records and processes related paperwork reviews and modifies contract documents to reflect changes to original agreement monitors records to verify compliance with state and federal laws and determines payments due contractor for work completed. Work requires contact with contractors. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.

The Construction Recordkeeper I performs assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.

The Construction Recordkeeper II performs work independently on assignments however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Keeps equipment mileage and service records and schedules equipment repairs.
  • May attend pre-construction meetings to instruct contractors bookkeeper on record-keeping procedures.
  • Monitors contractors compliance with federal requirements related to Equal Employment Opportunity and wages.
  • Prepares and submits monthly and final estimates checks calculations against work log and estimate form to verify work is completed before payment is made.
  • Prepares and types correspondence, reports and supporting documents files, orders supplies and equipment.
  • Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders.
  • Sets up field record books for each construction project within assigned area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education : High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.

Experience :

Construction Recordkeeper I: None

Construction Recordkeeper II: 1 year record-keeping, bookkeeping, or other related experience. (experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)

Licenses and Certifications : Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Competencies:

Construction Recordkeeper I:

  • Contract development and oversight
  • DBE, HUB, SBE
  • Writing, reviewing and revising documents to include engineering notes, specifications, standards and procedures
  • Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps
  • Using standard office equipment
  • Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files and reports
  • Communicating technical information effectively
  • Using computers and applicable programs, applications, and systems
  • Maintaining a safe working relationship

Construction Recordkeeper II all the above and:

  • Applicable testing methods, processes and procedures
  • Performing design/drafting work and preparing plans

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
  • Standing-prolonged periods of time
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures view a computer screen extensive reading
