Job Title: Bullpen Catcher, Reading Fightin Phils
Department: Player Development
Reports to: Manager, Reading Fightin Phils
Status: Part-Time, Seasonal

Description:

The Reading Fightin Phils, a minor league affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are seeking a bullpen catcher for pre-game and in-game bullpen sessions during home games. This is a part-time position that is anticipated to work between 3 and 5 hours per home game.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a catcher for Reading pre-game and in-game bullpen sessions during home games.
  • Warm up pitchers during games when needed.
  • Work closely with the coaching staff on daily field schedules and report times.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times while interacting with players, coaches, and staff.
  • Adhere to all team policies and procedures, as well as all league regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • College baseball experience preferred.
  • Must have baseball playing experience at a level beyond high school baseball.
  • Must be local to the greater Reading area (no housing or mileage reimbursement).
  • Tryout and medical evaluation required before hiring.
  • Cannot participate in a team practice or take batting practice.
  • Must be available for home games only and cannot travel with the team.
  • If currently receiving a baseball scholarship at a college or university, written confirmation from the athletic department that the players eligibility or scholarship will not be affected by NCAA rules is required.
    • Due to NCAA regulations, we may not be able to consider applicants who are currently enrolled and playing at a 4-year college or University.
  • Ability to work in a crouched position for extended periods of time while catching bullpen sessions.
  • Able to withstand long hours of standing, squatting, and throwing in outdoor weather conditions, potentially including extreme heat and cold, rain, and wind.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, including bags of baseballs and catchers gear.
