Introduction


State Representative Dave Considine (Assembly District 81) is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Research Assistant. This is a LTE position, which means limited term employment. The position is vacant beginning on Monday, July 15th, though start date can be negotiated as needed.

Salary Information


Ranges from $24.33 to $37.10 per hour. Wage is dependent on experience and education. This position does not include benefits.

Job Details


Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as primary liaison with leadership offices and the Chief Clerk
  • Manage the office phone and official email greet visitors
  • Manage Rep. Considine’s schedule
  • Manage constituent database (Forward)
  • Provide excellent service and response to constituents daily, including drafting replies to constituent letters
  • Serve as point-person for creating, arranging, implementing, and staffing Rep. Considine at district events
  • Update and maintain legislative website
  • Prepare monthly e-newsletters
  • Monitor legislation and conduct policy research
  • Assist in committee preparation
  • Meet with constituents, lobbyists, staff, etc.
  • Supervise office interns
  • Advise Rep. Considine on legislative issues and caucus operations
  • Travel to the 81st Assembly District as needed
  • Prepare and send press releases, columns, and statements
  • Post to official Facebook and Instagram pages
  • Craft social media posts and graphics

Qualifications


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
  • Interest in and ability to work collaboratively with other offices and staff
  • Experience in government, politics, non-profits, advocacy or organizing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G Suite
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and confidentiality at all times
